We are all excited about the new macOS and hit the update button, only to find our Mac experiencing performance issues such as the machine runs slow after updating to macOS Monterey. Upgraded FaceTime, Universal Control across devices with single mouse or trackpad, improved Safari browsing experience, privacy enhancements, the list go on. Its an app that been around for awhile and is pretty well-respected - it can be a bit daunting as to the stuff it allows you to do, but the Automation tab and its default settings will help clean up a lot of the cruft - as well as do the functions TurboTiger noted - all at once. Further to TurboTiger's post, there's the OnyX app (not found at the Mac App Store, but here - Titanium Software - OnyX - you'll need to temporarily turn off the limitations of only installing Mac App software in System Preferences > Security & Privacy to do so).
